Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is a mild form of safe dental sedation. It relaxes patients and delivers a sense of euphoria. If your child is anxious about visiting the dentist, nitrous oxide can help. A mask comfortably fits the nose to deliver laughing gas through the nasal cavity as the patient inhales. This treatment is followed by five minutes of oxygen to restore homeostasis in the body. Patients can resume regular activity after treatment.
